⚡ Catatumbo A river. A lake. A light the world already knew. Then the light began to bring people. The Lake The river found the lake the way it always had. Warm water meeting warmer water. A mouth of marsh and old oil. Mountains on three sides, a bowl that held the night in place, and a narrow cut north toward the Caribbean that never quite let the heat leave. They had a name for the light. Relámpago del Catatumbo. Sailors had used it as a beacon. Satellites had counted it. Twenty-eight strikes in a minute, some nights, for hours, until the swamp at the river's mouth looked like day.
